The code I am using is as follows:

           writer->setFeature(XMLUni::fgDOMWRTFormatPrettyPrint, true); 
        DOMElement *pobjElemToWrite = m_pobjDomTree->getDocumentElement();
        pszXmlOutput =
XMLString::transcode(writer->writeToString(*pobjElemToWrite));

        printf( "XML Output: %s\n", pszXmlOutput );
