A Google search for "xerces rosetta" seems to indicate that Rosetta
handles programs that include Xerces-C just fine. I have to believe
you'd get better performance if you distributed universal binaries,
though. Presumably this would require you to use Apple's tool chain.

Subject: Difference between Mac OS X x86 binary and PowerPC binary?

Hello all,
I'm trying to distribute my application to Mac OS X network that has X86
machines and PowerPC machines.
I've tried running the executable compiled for Power PC with Power PC
xerces
library on X86 machines, and they ran fine.
So I'm just wondering if I could continue using this or if I need to
compile
with X86 machine using X86 xerces library.
The reason behind this question is that x86 machines do not have gcc
installed, and I do not have admin privilege to the machines; I want to
minimize the number of requests to my systems administrator.

Thank you in advance!
