IMHO information is lost
Example
IN/ 1: qty 100
process 60 - result
IN/ 2: qty 60
IN/ 1; qty 40 - backorder of IN/2
process 10 more - result
IN/ 3: qty 10
IN/ 1; qty 30 - backorder of IN/3
we have lost the information that IN/2 has been a partial delivery of
IN/1
