Hello cacti experts,

Didn't posted here from yers. From my past experience and after few search
using google and this mailing list archives seems that not to much changes.

In the past, when I've migrated from 5 to 1 minute pooling, all .rra files
generated before changes has been lost (old rras deleted in order that new rras
to be created with 1 minute pooling interval).

I have one cacti-0.8.8g installed and pooling at 5 minutes, by using default
settings. For some reason, I want to go to "cacti 1 minute pooling", but
avoiding to completelly lost history (I am talking about 8 months, ~40 servers,
~100MB all rras).

Is this possible?

My idea is:
- to stop cron 5 minutes pooler
- move all rras from cacti/rra to /tmp/cacti
- export all rras from /tmp/cacti to xml
- configure cacti to graph 1 minute
- enable cron 1 minute pooler
- start generate new rras by 1 minute

So till here, we know for sure that new rra/grapgs will be generated according
to 1 minute policy.

My question is: Is any chances to import old rra (from exported xml) and merge
it with new rras?

In case is not possible, which other method exist in order that new rras (1
minute rras) to be merged with old data?

One posibility is to build another one server (virtual), import there actual
cacti (before changes), import sql, and old rras from xml and use it as old and
"offline" archives. But this looks ugly. Any other ideas?

Regards,
Alx
