It works fine for me. I am using Cactus 1.5dev + HttpUnit 1.4.5 + HttpClient built from CVS on 25/1/2003. Before trying anything else, can you try running the attached test case and see if it fails for you (just to make sure it is a valid test case for the bug you're encountering)?
