What worries me is the hardcoding of the 8859_1 character set. I don't know much about character sets, but won't this be a problem for our asiatic friends for example? What I don't understand is that, if not specified, the JVM will use the default charset for your environment. Does it mean you're running the server and client parts on different OSs?
