BTW, I couldn't run the sample yesterday because cargo.jar wasn't on the generated zip - how did you and Xuan test without it?

I recall fixing something in Cargo to make it work with Resin 3.0.12 and above. I think I had to modify the resin.conf file. You could possibly use the one used by Cargo which I'm attaching here for reference (it shouldn't be used as is as it contains some cargo-specific stuff).
