Maybe some of you have had a look at the SourceForge Mock Objects project in the past (http://sf.net/projects/mockobjects) and have found that although the idea was nice, it was a dead project, with nothing moving, no doc, code with no javadoc and missing things, ... This is true ! But I am now trying to change by helping them change that and make it a thriving community because I believe : * there is a potential community for mock objects (several on the Cactus list have said they liked or are already using mock objects), * I believe they have done a very poor job at advertising their project and more specifically at working on the presentation (documentation, javadoc, source formatting, user web site, ...). However I also believe that they have a good project, useful and which would benefit a lot if it were to reach the stage where you could safely use for your tests and know that the project is not dead and that you'll not get any support ! * the creators of the project are also quite well known in the XP domain and I believe this would help in accepting this project as the reference in the mock objects area * I also believe it will help Cactus by having myself participate to the Mock Objects project. For example, we could write a methodology guide that explains the complementarity of both techniques and when to use them and how ... Or simply by better understanding mock objects, we could find a way to integrate them seamlessly into Cactus (as we tried to do for Cactus v2 - this not a dead idea, it is simply delayed to assert better if it would work and how). Here is the latest Mock Objects announcement that explains what will be in version 0.01 (which will be out within 2 weeks) : http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=103197 Thanks -Vincent
