Bah, drawing up a contract is messy, use an Umbrella company to legalise it.
They will have a template contract and will even do your tax. I can recomend
Prosperity 4 in the UK (and thats nothing to do with the free hamper offer -
they are very rigorous).

Dead right. FOSS is (for me) about free as in speach, not free as in beer.
Nor is it a public service. I'm not affiliated with Apache, but I'm in IT,
and in IT I get fed up with people's assumption that because you have
knowledge of something they have a right to ask you about it, or, indeed,
receive proactive support.

Also it is worth highlighting the efficient nature of "hacker culture". If
there is no information to offer or no time to write it out (again) no
effort is made to explain that fact. Online, if a question is asked of 2000
people then of what use are 2000 messages saying "I don't know / I don't
have time to answer"? 

Silence is a sufficiently detailed response.
