Hi Hanna,

YES, Andorra is a great place to live, especially for kids . . . and not pay
any taxes.

However, it seems to be VERY difficult to get both a Permanent Residence
Permit AND a Work Permit. Most "Guest" workers are Spanish or Portuguese
and get a Work Permit together with a Temporary Residence Permit, thus end
of work means leaving the country !

If you have some cash or foreign income, however, it is relatively easy to
get a Passive (Permanent) Residence Permit, but you are then not allowed to
work in Andorra. You must live there at least 183 days each year, be
financially self sufficient, have private medical insurance and pension
arrangements, and lodge Pts 4,000,000 / 14,000 (first person) plus Pts
1,000,000 / 3,500 (for each dependant) with the Government - remains your
money, you get it back when you leave, but no interest payable. You are
allowed to be a consultant abroad, or do "Intellectual Property Work" (write
a book, software, etc.).

For more info I can recommend to contact Jane Whittaker at

We ourselves are planning to move, and semi-retire, in Andorra in a year's
time. We are (Dutch) Steven and (Polish) Kaska, with two triple-nationality
(and confused) kids, Natasha (nearly 21, presently living in Turkey) and
Sebastian (nearly 18, one more year in Grammar School prior to university).
Can recommend ex-pat living, as we have been in the UK for some 24 years
now, but itching to try new grounds in Andorra.
