I will say a prayer for your late wife, as Catholics (of which I am one)
believe in praying for the dead.
"El Dia de los Muertos" was an Aztec holy day that the Spanish found in
place when they arrived in Mexico. It corresponds, totally by
coincidence,." to the American/Canadian Halloween & the Catholic "All Souls
Day." Amazingly, El
Dia de los Muertos falls on the same day of the year as Halloween. In the
American southwest, where I live, El Dia de los Muertos has been
incorporated into many of the Christian religions, & secularly celebrated by
many persons outside of any religious connection. It differs slightly from
the other 2 observances mentioned here, in that people visit cemetaries &
focus on the achievements in the lives of the deceased, not necessarily
religious or spiritual events. Some of the iconography does resemble that
associaterd with Halloween, however.
