Greg and Tycho, please switch over to the new repo. I talked with David Comay who will send a pointer to the SUNWipkg package (or equivalent) which contains the IPS bits themselves. You'll of course need that to install from the repo. Once you get SUNWipkg, please try what Bart suggested to lay out the bits on the system see how far you get. Summary is as follows: - Boot current rev of SNV DVD. Use text installer, else can't get ZFS root. - Install ZFS root pool. - ZFS create the root file system. - Create/copy/update SPARC equivalent of menu.lst. Have it point to the new ZFS root. - Install packages: - SVR4: pkgadd packages - IPS: - Install SVR4 SUNWipkg package - "pkg image-create" to establish where to install the packages - "pkg -R install" to install the packages - Look to see what the installer does after installing packages (bootadm, devfsadm, etc) and do the needful for SPARC. In slim source gate, check out - usr/src/cmd/slim-install/finish/install-finish, - usr/src/lib/liborchestrator/perform_slim_install.c For a copy of slim source gate, do this: hg clone ssh://anon at hg.opensolaris.org/hg/caiman/slim_source Karen and Jean (of DC team), with the current state of things as they are, you will be basically doing the same thing as Greg and Tycho: working on getting a bootable image built. The difference is the angle: build a bootable ISO rather than a harddrive installation. Both teams, please work together next week regarding boot issues. Or, if working in parallel, everyone please keep all other people, including Dave C, abreast of your findings). Once we have a bootable system, it should be easy to replicate it in an ISO. I'm out next week. Sundar is a part-time standin while I'm gone. (He's busy with AI too.) He'll also be running the meeting on Wednesday. Thanks, everyone, for your help.
