Jacky, Automated Installer needs either DNS information or HTTP proxy specified in the AI manifest to complete the installation of OpenSolaris. Do you have the DNS information for your network? You can add the DNS information to your DHCP server. I am attaching the macro information from a working server.
# dhtadm -P Name Type Value ================================================== 0100144F229050 Macro :Include=osol-dhcp:BootSrvA=10.6.68.21:BootFile="http://10.6.68.21:5555/cgi-bin/wanboot-cgi":Rootpath="http://10.6.68.21:5555/export/home/images/ai_111a_6616_7683_sparc": 10.6.68.0 Macro :Include=osol-dhcp:Subnet=255.255.255.0:Router=10.6.68.1:Broadcst=10.6.68.255: osol-dhcp Macro :Timeserv=10.6.68.47:LeaseTim=604800:LeaseNeg:DNSdmain="sfbay.sun.com":DNSserv=129.145.155.220 129.145.154.118 129.147.9.5:Include=Locale: The server macro 'osol-dhcp' (in your case it is qube) has the DHCP information. The client macro 0100144F229050 (in your case dhcp_macro_0906sparc) included the server macro and the client get the DNS information when it gets an offer from DHCP server. If you don't have DNS information, check the documentation at http://dlc.sun.com/osol/docs/content/dev/AIinstall/customai.html#ieproxy for adding HTTP proxy to your manifest. Also look at "How to Replace the Default AI Manifest" at http://dlc.sun.com/osol/docs/content/dev/AIinstall/customai.html Thanks, Sundar jacky cao wrote: > Thank you. > I used the "installadm create-service" to set up the DHCP server. > currently the server is in SWAN and seems NIS is current configure. > output of dhtadm -P for your reference. > -------------- > root at qube:~# dhtadm -P > Name Type Value > ================================================== > dhcp_macro_0906sparc Macro > :Include=qube:BootSrvA=10.13.47.51:BootFile="http://10.13.47.51:5555/cgi-bin/wanboot-cgi":Rootpath="http://10.13.47.51:5555/export/home/aiimages/osol-0906-ai-sparc": > > > 10.13.46.0 Macro > :Subnet=255.255.254.0:Router=10.13.47.254:Broadcst=10.13.47.255:NISdmain="bjs0711f.PRC.Sun.COM":NISservs=10.13.33.1: > > > qube Macro > :Include=Locale:Timeserv=10.13.47.51:LeaseTim=86400:LeaseNeg: > Locale Macro :UTCoffst=28800: > GrubMenu Symbol Site,150,ASCII,1,0 > root at qube:~# > --------------- > and here is the install_log > --------------------- > jack at opensolaris:~$ cat /tmp/install_log > <AI Apr 30 06:27:05> /tmp/ai_combined_manifest.xml is a valid manifest > <AI Apr 30 06:27:05> Auto reboot disabled > <OM Apr 30 06:27:25> System reports enough physical memory for > installation, swap is optional > <AI Apr 30 06:27:25> Checking any disks for minimum recommended size > of 12646 MB > <AI Apr 30 06:27:25> Disk c6t0d0 size listed as 70007 MB > <AI Apr 30 06:27:25> Default disk selected is c6t0d0 > <AI Apr 30 06:27:25> Disk name selected for installation is c6t0d0 > <AI Apr 30 06:27:25> no manifest slice information found > <OM Apr 30 06:27:25> Timezone setting will be TZ=US/Pacific > <OM Apr 30 06:27:25> Set timezone > <AI Apr 30 06:27:25> installation will be performed from > http://pkg.opensolaris.org/release (opensolaris.org) > <AI Apr 30 06:27:25> installation will be performed from > http://pkg.opensolaris.org/release (opensolaris.org) > <AI Apr 30 06:27:25> list of packages to be installed is: > <AI Apr 30 06:27:25> entire > <AI Apr 30 06:27:25> SUNWcsd > <AI Apr 30 06:27:25> SUNWcs > <AI Apr 30 06:27:25> babel_install > <AI Apr 30 06:27:25> list of packages to be removed is: > <AI Apr 30 06:27:25> babel_install > <AI Apr 30 06:27:25> slim_install > <OM Apr 30 06:27:25> Set zfs root pool device > <OM Apr 30 06:27:25> creating zpool > <OM Apr 30 06:27:38> /usr/sbin/zfs get -Hp -o value available rpool > <OM Apr 30 06:27:38> Creating swap and dump on ZFS volumes > <OM Apr 30 06:28:10> TI process completed successfully > <OM Apr 30 06:28:10> Transfer process initiated > <OM Apr 30 06:28:10> IPS transfer mechanism selected > <OM Apr 30 06:28:10> IPS transfer phase initiated > <TRANSFER_MOD_E Apr 30 06:28:13> Unable to initialize the pkg image > area at /a > <TRANSFER_MOD Apr 30 06:28:13> TValueError or TABort > <OM Apr 30 06:28:14> IPS initialization phase 1 failed > <OM Apr 30 06:28:14> Transfer failed with error -1 > <AI Apr 30 06:28:15> om_perform_install failed with error 114 > <AI Apr 30 06:28:15> Auto install failed > jack at opensolaris:~$ > ----------------------- >> Cao, >> >> Please provide the error message from /tmp/install_log after the >> failure.
