I need to install a modified SUNWlsimega driver in order to recognise my LSI MegaRAID SATA 8X controller which I have been using for nearly two years with Solaris. Once booted from the OpenSolaris 2008.11 LiveCD I have removed the SUNWlismega driver and I have installed my modified version but have not managed to get it to rescan the hardware in order to recognise the hardware.
On the OpenSolaris: discuss forum a posting advised booting to single user mode. I tried this on my OpenSolaris 2008.11 install in a VBox by selecting 'e' at the Grub boot stage and editting the kernel line to include -s, I also removed the graphical console option but the VirtualBox client had not booted to single user mode after 15 minutes (a normal OpenSolaris boot is around 1 minute) -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
