Taking it up a level, having a way to abstractly say "the disks in
slots 0 and 1 in the server chassis" or the disks in slot0 of the
first two attached arrays of type "StorEdge 3120  D".

In particular, I want to be able to use protocols that are already
present on my network.  That is, EIGRP, CDP, LLDP, etc. can be helpful
protocols to understand network topology.
