Please note there are constraints outside of the AI project that would have a bearing on this. Notably, newer pkg(5) clients might not be able to use an older repository. While the pkg(5) team has worked very hard to ensure that doesn't happen, there may come a time when there is an incompatible change such that backwards compatibility cannot be guaranteed.
