Hi Jack,
One thing which is poorly handled by OpenSolaris today is when a
user has an older (~>3 years old) NVidia chipset we don't install the
drivers for it.
A number of engineers around my office recently brought this up,
as we don't out of the box support a Sun W2100z. The W2100z uses an older
NVidia driver. Though, this is a specific case, it seems it would be very
good to detect that we don't support the graphic chip through the DDU and
automatically fall back to VESA mode graphics - reducing the need for the
GRUB VESA mode entry.
Further, it would be very nice to see that we support the W2100z's
as more and more engineers -- let alone customers -- with them try to run
OpenSolaris. This may require a poke to the folks maintaining the DDU
database as I don't know if it flags on older NVidia hardware now but
wanted to point it out while 10.02 was still in the midsts of development.

                                                        Thank you,
                                                        Clay
