Yes, deferring unicast DNS (uDNS) is the plan for now. Support for uDNS
was originally considered, as it would address issue tracked by bug
6320 'No valid AI service found' error if AI client and server are on 
different subnets

Since during investigation of this solution it was found out that
more research is needed in that area, file-based configuration
will be implemented as fix for 6320.

As we were discussing on Friday, from testing point of view it
will mean that in order to verify the fix, two separate subnets
will need to be created with AI clients on both and AI server
created on one of them.
For now, AI server can serve only AI clients on the same subnet.
After 6320 is fixed, AI server will be able to serve AI clients
on other subnets as well.
