When I use a text installer, it is typically through a (e.g. Cyclades)
terminal server or Serial Over LAN connection - I am rarely in the
same room as equipment that I work on.  I think it is fair to say that
I always do so using something that claims xterm compatibility.  As
such, some form of xterm support is required.  I can't say I care too
much whether it supports color or not.
