SUNWdistro-const indeed needs to have a dependency on Python. I just filed bug 6167 for this: http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=6167 DC doesn't depend on ZFS. There are checks in the code to see whether ZFS is available. If not, everything should still work, but you just don't get the check pointing ability.
