Finally made progress. User error for some of it. It appears that boot -kdv <pci device> is NOT the same as boot <pci device> -kdv Duh huh? So now that I was booting off of the right disk, I still was not able to execute sparc.microroot. Decided to beat a dead horse and installboot on it yet again. This time octal dumping to be sure it got there. Then booted.
Went to kmdb!!!
