I did a bit more testing, and it seems like the USB mouse/keyboard handling in b131, at least for SPARC and/or SB1500, is a little wonky. To avoid any extra complications, I removed my KVM switch from the picture and tried various combinations of keyboard/mouse and USB port.
The Sun Blade 1500 (silver) shipped from the factory with 7 USB ports as follows: front panel = 2 x USB 1 (call these F) rear panel = 2 x USB 1 (call these R) add in card = 3 x USB 2 (call these C) We use two types of keyboards: Sun type 6 USB keyboard with separate USB mouse (call this T6) Sun type 7 USB keyboard with internal USB hub and attached USB mouse (call this T7) My results were: T6 into F: works okay, disconnect+reconnect work fine T6 into R: does not work at all T6 into C: works okay, disconnect+reconnect work fine T7 into F: initially neither the keyboard or mouse work, but switching to the other front port gets them both going; a subsequent disconnect+reconnect on the other port stops the keyboard working, but then switching back to the first front port gets things going again. T7 into R: same as T7 into F. T7 into C: from boot the keyboard isn't detected and the machine boots headless; if connected after boot (i.e. machine booted up with a different keyboard/port combination then T7 attached) then the behaviour is the same as for the F and R ports above. I *think* that this may have something to do with the presence/absence of USB hubs since: - that is one of the main differences between the T6 and T7 keyboards - the behaviour documented above changes somewhat if I put the KVM switch (which also has an internal USB hub) back in place -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
