Hello,
1) It's very odd that you saw a splash image, as you're right, they're
not supposed to be enabled for the text install images. ttya consoles
don't yet work by default either, due to known bug 14964 - a workaround
is listed here:
http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=14964#c0
2) When you reached the login screen, was it the 'opensolaris console
login' or, were you presented with a menu of choices (similar to the
keyboard/language selection)? If it was the former, can you login as
user: jack, password: jack, and send the output of "svcs -xv install-setup"?
3) The command to run the installer manually is /usr/bin/text-install.
Based on your concerns, perhaps the wrong image was hosted/used. Where
did you pull the image from?
Thanks,
Keith

I'm trying a textInstall of the dev 134 build, on an x4600, from cdrom using
the textInstall image.
1) the grub menu uses the splash image, and guess what, that doesn't work on a text
console ttya, kind of defeats the purpose of a "text" install.
2) After moving to a graphics console, It asked me for keyboard layout and
language, and then kicked me to a login screen, didn't ask time zone,IP
settings etc... did not see any error messages, but may have lost then
(graphics ilom redirect is not scrollable.
Doesn't look like the install ever started.
Is there a command I run run at the ai kernel prompt? to start the install
manually.
