the boot archive's compression, so I think moving it down is

No, it wouldn't change the semantics even if I put it as an argument.
The app knows this applies to solaris.zlib, and doesn't apply to other
elements. If the app wants to change to apply this to multiple zlibs
then it can later.
I don't recall a good reason why this is different across the compressed lofi
images; I'd expect to just make it globally applied.
I think it is a holdover from when lzma wasn't fast and
we were space constrained on the cd. So, we resorted to
compressing the smaller zlibs with lzma and gave the user
the option to tweak the compression of the larger/time
consuming solaris.zlib
