Keith has asked some good questions on the details here. One point that
really isn't covered is why you're proposing this route rather than
using the "transform" hook in Transfer, which was included specifically
as a means to solve this problem. The only mention is in 5.6, after the
fact, whereas I would have expected section 1 or 2 to discuss why this
isn't adequate.
