Right - have read that several times of course, but many variations are often
not documented, so I thought I would give it a shot.

Especially since zpool configuration in the manifest will be required as pretty
much the only configuration we would use when S11 GA comes out. Just testing
at the moment.

For future reference, is there an upcoming flag day or somesuch that support
for zpool configuration is tied to, so we can track its progress. I see the
discussion on the target description is still ongoing on this list.

There are a bunch of bugs that relate to various aspects of improved ZFS support. You can place a Watch on the flag days page at

http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Project+caiman/Flag+Days

for announcements of things like this.

Hi Gordon,

Zpool creation is not yet supported in AI manifests. See:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E19963-01/820-6566/aiman-1/index.html
for details on what you can specify in the AI manifest
in Solaris 11 Express.

After reading target.dtd, I've been trying several variations on the<target>
specification on Solaris 11 Express.

The following snippet from one of the manifests validates, but reading the
install debug output indicates that this is being completely ignored. Am I
doing something wrong here, or is this functionality not quite there yet?

<target>
   <target_device>
     <zpool name="rpool" is_root="true" action="create">
       <vdev redundancy="mirror">
         <disk>
           <disk_name name="c3t0d0" name_type="ctd"/>
           <slice action="create" name="0" force="true"/>
         </disk>
         <disk>
           <disk_name name="c3t1d0" name_type="ctd"/>
           <slice action="create" name="0" force="true"/>
         </disk>
       </vdev>
       <pool_options>
       <options>"-o dedup=on"</options>
       </pool_options>
     </zpool>
   </target_device>
</target>
