The SCI tool is a basic Caiman Solaris 11 configuration program whose purpose is mainly to prompt the user for system configuration
information when none has been provided by other means. It is normally expected to be launched upon first boot of a
freshly-installed Solaris 11. SCI tool does not attempt to be all-encompassing, but rather to provide fundamental configuration
that can be later changed, the emphasis being on simplifying and speeding the installation process. The SCI tool design document
can be found here:

Basic name services configuration is to be supported. The following proposes information to input from the user. Solaris 10
sysidconfig is used as a starting point.
The user may choose from DNS, LDAP, or NIS.
For DNS configuration, the user will be prompted for:
- one or more nameservers
- a domain name or a list of domains to search
For NIS:
- the domain name
- an option to find a name server automatically or to specify one
-- specified hostname/IP address of server
For LDAP:
- profile name
- profile server IP address
- option for proxy bind info:
-- proxy bind distinguished name
-- proxy bind password
Feedback from the Caiman community is sought.
Thank you for your attention,
William Schumann
