I had same issue, I believe you are seeing bug ;
7162039 xserver/xorg-server Xorg 1.12 causes server crash on startup
with ast, vesa, nv drivers

information of hardware, please feel free to let me know.
By the way, the system can be started normally if I select the option
"text console" in GRUB.
