Howdy,
I was looking at automating some of our AI installs and noticed that the
default/example AI manifests don't match the schema for package formats.
AI Example: <name="[email protected]#"/>
However, from the PKG documentation,
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23824_01/html/E21802/ghyer.html#gkkct
the version schema should have 4 parts, Component version, Build
version, Branch version and Time Stamp.
So the AI example is missing the Build version and should be formatted
as such: [email protected],5.11-0.build#
Both seem to work, however, I'm concerned that one is incorrect and
cease to function at some point in time.
Which one is correct and why?
The build_release (',5.11' above) is informational only and is basically
ignored by the packaging system. It is currently being evaluated for
removal in future releases of Solaris.
I'll leave the install team to answer questions about the 'build#' bit
though.
