Just in case anyone is still interested in a solution: In dconf-editor,
make sure that "disable-workarounds" under
/org/gnome/desktop/wm/preferences is not active.

Title:
  Weird positioning on gnome-shell

Status in Cairo-Dock : Core:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Hi! I'm trying to set up Cairo-Dock, but I can't make it dock to bottom.
Even it is set, it keeps "floating" on the top-left side of the screen.
Its weird because when mouse hovers bottom of the screen, the dock shows up
up there.
This has been happening on Natty, too.

  Cairo version: 2.4.0~2
  Ubuntu Oneiric x64.
  GNOME Shell 3.2.1

  Screenshot attached!
