Hi, Are you by chance using Metacity as the compositor ? Because Metacity doesn't display the dock's dialogs very well (they are invisible), so when the dock displays a dialog to propose to launch the new app, it may be invisible and take the focus from the dock. In this case, a workaround is to launch the dock with the option -W (or use another compositor).
