there's a section in the preferences called File Types - you can add
extensions here for file types you want Dreamweaver to edit

the one thing I do NOT like about this however, is I can't find a way
to specify what formatting to apply to a given fileype - I.E. being
able to tell Dreamweaver to apply PHP styling (colors, syntax
highlighting, etc) to the thtml files - this is something you can do in
Zend and other text editors
