ImageTag is deprecated because you should use HTMLHelper:image() instead.
The correct code for making a ckickable ajax link to an image is something like this:
$ajax->link($html->image("refresh"), 'Controller/action', array("update" => "emails", "url" =>"list_emails" ),null,false);
