Hi Ryan, To follow up on Mika, who answered whilst I was replying (you type fast!).
It's not a mistake ;). The AppController file you have found in the cake folder is used if and only if the AppController in your app folder doesn't exist - the tutorial is indicating that you need to CREATE the file /app/app_controller.php with the contents indicated. If you think this isn´t clear from the tutorial, create a ticket and the chaps will add a clarification if it is deemed necessary.
