Ok, so I went off on a little rant there. I feel better now, and appreciated your response greatly.
The maiden, trial application I am trying to build is this. The missus is a teacher and wastes so much of her time marking that it drives her nuts. So me thinks, how about getting a list of stock answer comments and let her assign these to students homework, rather than rewritting for every student. Getting her through her marking quicker and getting me mucho brownie points ;-) Current Project State: www.kestrelid.com/cakePHP/students Five tables: students, answers, questions, question elements (questions have an inconsistent number of elements/tasks) and results. REQUIREMENT #1 questions input required interface functionality similar to a Ta-Da list to add the question related, question elements. Problems: how to add input funtionality. how to save to multiple tables from a single screen save sequence and assign question elements table foreign key -> question table REQUIREMENT #2 per student, per question, assign stock answers, select delivery date + other details and save. Problems: how to record multiple stock answers per result, maybe as a string csv list and explode/implode to access? how to create drop down lists of reference tables (students & questions), drag-drop answers to result. referencing multible tables. I found a web link into the IRC channel a few days ago and haven't been able to find it again since. Pointers please... I will be honest, this has been more of a venting excercise for me and I appreciate if you have read this far. If you can help on any of the above that would be great.
