I'm working on a database for a dance competition and I would appreciate everyone's advice. This part of it is mostly for setting things up, so that the data retrieved by cake follows the correct division/competition structure. So you have differing types of competitions/divisions:
couples - men dance with women linedance - people dance without a partner swing - men and women dance swing together etc.. Each division has a type, an age group, and a level: couples 50-60 level1 couples 50-60 level2 couples 20-30 level1 linedance 20-30 level1 etc.. Also there are multiple dances that you can enter for a given division, but not all dances are available to every division, so someone might enter: couples 50-60 level1 2step, chacha, waltz, west coast swing linedance 20-30 level1 smooth, lilt, funky As you can see it gets pretty complicated :( I have come up with a preliminary design consisting of 4 tables and 2 join tables. Tables: divisiontypes, levels, ages, and dances. Join tables: divisions, divisions_dances. You can see the image from dbdesigner here: http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/7926/divisionstestnz2.png I would like any advice you all have on setting this up in the best way to work with cake.
