All I was saying was that *I* don't see the point in worrying about
that sort of stuff. To use your analogy of the locked house: if I
don't think there is anything worth stealing I won't worry if someone
breaks in. All the stuff I think is valuable is locked up in the
safest place I can think of: my head. If someone steals an
application I wrote, I can always create it again. And probably make
it better without the baggage of the original.

Look, I understand people's desire to protect the work they've done.
If you're concerned about people screwing around with your code, then
by all means protect yourself by obsfucating the code. My logic isn't
flawed just because you happen to disagree with it: I'm simply
providing a point of view that feels that worrying about people
stealing your web applications is pointless because in the end you'll
spend more time chasing people down than actually building anything.

Troy: Your posts have made me realize that we have very different
opinions on a lot of issues surrounding PHP application development
(your statement that PHP4 doesn't support object-oriented programming
for one), so let's agree to disagree on this issue...and keep the tone
of the conversation civil.

M: I hope SourceGuardian/Zend Safeguard does the trick but hope that
you can find other ways to make money rather than relying on people
never figuring out what you are doing. It's ironic that you are
benefiting from an open source application but trying to hide what
you've done with it.
