I did search quite a bit, but the posts I found on AJAX weren't very clear to me. I don't know if it's a lack of knowledge on my part in either CakePHP or Scriptaculous, but I have learned a lot from Reine's post. It's clear to me now that I must first learn how to use Scriptaculous well before I start trying to do AJAX in CakePHP. I've done AJAX by hand using JavaScript, but Scriptaculous is different, yet welcoming. My problem is actually a bit involved than just a blog, but I used that example for simplicity. When I finally get the solution exactly how I want it, I will repost. I really just wanted to know where the data comes from to update the div. I still don't quite understand $this->layout = 'ajax', but like I said, I got some more learning to do.
