I certainly agree there is "hard coupling" between the controller and the view in Cake. They seem to become very intermingled, I would say a bit too tightly. Particularly for something like an edit view, the controller code has to be written together with the view.
I extended the edit setup when I was writing some google-style query code, and the result is hard to understand.
