Just wanted to ask if anyone knows how best to do this - essentially I want to be able to send all the cakephp mysql selects (read) to a read- replica database and all the inserts/deletes/updates (writes) to the master database.
For a bit of background - I've been tasked to build a site that will handle a large number of sessions, data and traffic, and I have done all the other optimisations I can think of (loadbalancing on the server, containable and fields on all find(), memchached, mysql indexes for acl and pretty much everything in the db, using innodb as well).
