Re errors on windows, ahh... wow.... that looks like a lot or errors
and I wouldn't have the faintest notion what any of all that means.

Re the repo for mime types I haven't set this up, I didn't know I had
to and have only been learning from googling over the last few hours.

I think my problem is that I just don't know enough. I've only used
the cake console a couple of times and never used consoles before. All
the tutorials for this Media Plugin seem to require you doing things
with the console which I haven't been able to make work at all. So I'm
in a quandary.

it's been suggested that I use
http://www.jamesfairhurst.co.uk/posts/view/uploading_files_and_images_with_cakephp
to upload files and then crop them as necessary using
http://bakery.cakephp.org/articles/Perkster/2008/04/12/image-resizer-crop

But everywhere I've read it says Media Plugin is the best. I'm not
sure what I'll be loosing out on if I go this other way. Because I
can't get media working, I don't know what I'm missing :(

Are there security issues or other drawbacks to doing this without the
media plugin
