there doesn't seem to be a direct solution to this :(

and surely it doesn't help to set something for cache in the controller since if the view cache file is already created the controller's code is not invoked...

however, I solved my issues using the approach presented here: http://www.sanisoft.com/blog/2010/06/21/cakephp-cache-views-by-domain-a-cache-helper/
