Shaz, this is what I did to solve the problem if you are still having
problems.
$this->Author->bindModel(array(
'hasAndBelongsToMany' => array(
'Category' => array('conditions'=>array('Category.id'=>'5'))
)));
$this->Author->find('all', array('conditions'=>array('Author.id'=>'2')));
