Thanks for the suggestion and help Matt. I appreciate it. I ended up solving my memory issue by just using raw SQL for finds and saves. No more memory issues. The problem still doesn't make sense to me though. You would think that in each iteration of the loop, the state of the current Active Record is overwritten. That doesn't seem to be happening. It seems like its appending to it, thus piling on memory in each iteration. I don't understand the internals but this seems to be a bug in my book.
