I solved the issue. In CakePHP 2.0 the AppController::__construct() has new
variables that you need to pass to the parent __construct(). I updated
the __construct() function to look like this...
public function __construct($request = null, $response = null) {
parent::__construct($request, $response);
// my construct logic
}
(Previously the $request, and $response vars weren't there.)
