If you're just right-clicking on the download link from http://cakeforge.org/frs/?group_id=23&release_id=156 and clicking "save as...", you are only downloading an html page asking if you want to donate to the project. Click past that page to download the zip file.
If you have already done that, perhaps you need to rename the file. On my system, it the filename is "donation=complete", which I renamed to cake.zipand it opened perfectly. Otherwise, I dunno.
