Hello all, I just wanted to send a friendly reminder to people who are helping us with this project by reporting bugs. I think it is great that people take time to submit tickets so we can continue to improve CakePHP.
One thing I would like to ask all people opening tickets is read the wiki entry on the trac site for reporting bugs. https://trac.cakephp.org/wiki/bugreport Not only will this help us help you better by showing what you are actually doing in your code. It will dramatically reduce time I spend working on bugs, since I would have a better understanding of the issue by seeing what you do. and would be able to reproduce easier. >From today forward I will begin marking tickets as invalid and noting in the comment for the ticket that it is incomplete if it does not follow the a few rules: Version From VERSION.txt: There is a input area for supplying the version number of CakePHP, this is located in version.txt in the root directory, I update this version number on every merge to the trunk, and it is used as the version number of the release. Include the full version number from this file. Type: There are a few different types of tickets. Please choose the appropriate type. If it is relate to something that CakePHP does not currently handle or is related to something outside of our control, such as a change to another projects library, it is an Enhancement and should be marked as such. If it is something you feel is a real bug then choose this, but if we review and see it as an Enhancement, it will be changed. Description: This is the primary information related to the ticket, along with the version number this is the most important. Be detailed as the wiki link above explains. Besides the above this is an example of a ticket that will not get much attention from me because of the users comments, if you are impatient and feel like you are owed something then please do not open tickets, or find another project to spew remarks like this ticket has toward our development efforts. https://trac.cakephp.org/ticket/1568 We do fix bugs regardless of what some users think: https://trac.cakephp.org/wiki/changelog/1.1.x.x Do not take this as a your bug reports suck rant. It is not, I am just trying to educate people on this topic so we can continue to make CakePHP the greatest development framework for PHP.
