Just in case anyone found this useful here is an update. This finally
worked:
$ssns = $this->User->query("SELECT id, ssn_temp FROM users as User ORDER BY
id");
foreach ($ssns as $i) {
$this->User->id = $i['User']['id'];
$this->User->saveField('ssn', $i['User']['ssn_temp']);
}
Also be sure to put set_time_limit(0); in your bootstrap.php file.
