Some time ago, I wrote a series of articles about integrating CakePHP and the CKEditor. (Part 1 is here [http://reuben-in-rl.blogspot.com.au/2010/06/integrating-ckeditor-and-cakephp-part-1.html]).
Part 3 deals with using CakePHP sessions, with just the regular php session. [http://reuben-in-rl.blogspot.com.au/2010/06/integrating-ckeditor-and-cakephp-part-3.html] Part 4 deals with using CakePHP sessions, but with the database variety. [http://reuben-in-rl.blogspot.com.au/2010/06/integrating-ckeditor-and-cakephp-part-4.html] Admittedly, this was all done with CakePHP 1.3, but the same principals apply for CakePHP 2.X.
