Some time ago, I wrote a series of articles about integrating CakePHP and 
the CKEditor. (Part 1 is here

Part 3 deals with using CakePHP sessions, with just the regular php 
session.

Part 4 deals with using CakePHP sessions, but with the database variety.

Admittedly, this was all done with CakePHP 1.3, but the same principals 
apply for CakePHP 2.X.
