@Yvon: It will be choice 1 - every subsidiary is unique to a company. But I am not sure what you actually mean in your solution for this case (why a parent_id?). @Jermeny: The tree behaviour seems exaclty to do what I am looking for. Hopefully this does not complicate the queries/finds Ive already built. Usally all actions in my app are and will be on company-level. The (optional) subsidiary-relation is only for statistic purposes (and to run grouping operations).
